Yxkullsund nature reserve

Show map

The reserve is a mixture of open landscape, grazing pasture with scattered trees, broadleaf woodland and wet forest in the vicinity of Yxkullsund Manor House. The high proportion of old-growth deciduous trees (mainly oak) provides prime habitat for wood-dependent beetles such as the scarab beetle Osmoderma eremita, along with a range of lichens, fungi and birds. Cat's-foot, viper's grass and butterfly orchid are all found in the meadows, while coralroot grows in wooded areas.
